Drug-free support
A drug-free option to sit alongside your pain management and other care.
Acupuncture & Chinese medicine
Acupuncture has been practised in China for more than 2,000 years. Today it’s often used alongside the care you get from your GP.
How it works
Your practitioner places fine, sterile needles at points chosen for you. Rather than only treating the symptom in front of us, we look at what might be behind it.
It’s now practised all over the world, and we often work with GPs, specialists and midwives.
How acupuncture fits into your care
A drug-free option to sit alongside your pain management and other care.
We look at the patterns contributing to how you feel, not just the immediate symptoms.
For recent injuries and for problems you’ve had for years.
Treatment to help keep you well, not only when something’s wrong.
We treat body and mind together, because each affects the other.

What to expect
Here’s how a first visit usually goes, and what happens after.
Book an appointment01 · Your first visit
Your practitioner will go through your health history and what’s brought you in. Notes are kept securely and used to plan your treatment.

02 · Each treatment
Fine needles are placed at points chosen for you, then you’ll rest for around 40 minutes. Most people find it very relaxing.

03 · Over the following weeks
Some people notice changes quickly, while others see steady improvement across a number of sessions. Lasting results usually come from a structured course of treatment.

04 · Longer term
Most people start with weekly sessions, then space them out over time. Some like to come in every so often to keep on top of things.

Acupuncture needles are very fine, far thinner than a needle used for an injection. Most people feel a brief pinch, then a dull, heavy or warm sensation. Most people find it relaxing, and some drift off to sleep.
