Acupuncture needles in the low back

Anya Rowlands

Anya Rowlands studied at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, graduating as class valedictorian with a Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Anya was apprenticed to Ross Penman for 5 years, working beside him in his clinic. Anya’s focus is classical acupuncture using theories and practices from the early Han Dynasty. She joins Catherine and Kristina whom also apprenticed with Ross Penman so patients are able to move from practitioner to practitioner and enjoy the same style of treatment. Anya’s focus has been in treating both children and adults with a wide spread of ailments and health conditions. From migraines to depression and anxiety, back problems, women's health and sub-fertility issues, digestive problems, sport injuries, post operative surgery, and cancer support. Anya came to acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine from a background in teaching yoga and continues to provide corrective structural exercises and nutritional guidance where appropriate for her patients. Anya thoroughly enjoys her work as an acupuncturist and seeing patients through to better health outcomes.

Thomas Penman

Thomas Penman is a nationally registered acupuncturist with a Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture from Endeavour College of Natural Health. He is registered with AHPRA and is an accredited member of AACMA. Thomas offers a distinctive blend of classical training and modern clinical insight. Mentored for more than a decade by his father, Ross Penman, a pioneer of Chinese Medicine in Sydney with over 45 years of experience - Thomas continues to refine his practice within a lineage of deep clinical expertise. The family tradition in Chinese medicine extends back over 200 years, a heritage that informs and enriches his approach to care. Grounded in the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, Thomas also maintains a strong interest in the multidimensional mechanisms of action through which acupuncture achieves therapeutic effects. He actively engages with contemporary biomedical research, exploring how molecular and physiological processes may explain outcomes that Chinese physicians described centuries ago. This integration of classical understanding with modern scientific insight defines his clinical approach, offering patients a modern door to ancient healing.
